Shaun Assael is an award-winning author, magazine writer, and producer. 

His latest book, Dig Me A Grave, is a true crime collaboration with Dick Harpootlian, the defense attorney for Alex Murdaugh, and available for pre-order.

Others include The Murder of Sonny Liston, which re-examined the Las Vegas death of the heavyweight champion of the world, and Steroid Nation, which chronicled his decade-long reporting into America’s performance-enhancing drug underground as a senior writer and investigations correspondent for ESPN.

In film, he co-executive produced the Showtime documentary Pariah, which is based on his book. His podcast work includes a three-part series on the life of Wilt Chamberlain, which he wrote and narrated, and was drawn from an award-winning piece in Politico Magazine.

Presently, he is helping a notable media figure finish a memoir and continues to work in magazines and consulting. He divides his time between coastal North Carolina and New York City.

Looking for a good 18th Century spy story? The wonderful folks at BYU’s Constant Wonder podcast (@cw_byu) gave me a half-hour to weave together the story of the legendary French naturalist Andre Michaux, who would have beaten Lewis & Clark to the Pacific if not for some amazing political intrigue involving Thomas Jefferson and a who’s who of quarrelsome Founding Fathers.
